I’m a full-time photographer based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with nearly a decade of professional experience as a wedding, portrait, and lifestyle family photographer in West Michigan and beyond.
I also work with honest people who love timeless, colorful, not-so-trendy photos, and who want to feel at ease and fully themselves while their essence is captured. I believe family photography starts with trust, clear communication, and an experience that feels easy from start to finish.

I photograph families in Grand Rapids, West Michigan, and across the state of Michigan because I believe family is a beautiful, important part of life.
I think a lot. And I think a lot about how fast life goes by. Family can be wonderful, challenging, painful, joyful...but it is the one you get. And there's something beautiful about the people we are given to walk alongside, by birth or in marriage.
I want to provide experiences that capture this beauty well, and in documenting, you might just be reminded of the beauty too. No stiff poses (or at least not too many), just life on display, moments preserved the way you want them to be.

I. Reach Out
Send an inquiry and tell me a bit about your vision, and when you wanted to shoot. If I have your date available, we’ll schedule a time to connect.
II. Planning and Prep
I’ll help you think through the session and what matters most to you, so we can get the moments that matter. This is an empathy-driven process...be prepared for deep questions!
III. Shoot Day
The best day! I arrive prepared, calm, and focused on standing back and watching the fun unfold, with my camera up of course.
IV. Gallery Delivery
You’ll receive a thoughtfully edited, full gallery of images. Prints are conveniently available for purchase right in the gallery.

What is an at-home lifestyle family photo session?
Instead of a very posed, public session, an at-home lifestyle family session aims to capture the sweetest moments in the most comfortable place for them to unfold: your home. It's a more documentary-style, laid back approach to capturing whatever beautiful time of life your family is in, without the dressing up, logistics, or stress of getting out the door.
Do you photograph family sessions outside of Grand Rapids?
Yes. While I’m based in Grand Rapids, I regularly photograph gigs throughout Michigan, like Detroit, Saugatuck, and Traverse City. I also take on weddings in Chicago, IL, and the suburbs, including Naperville, Plainfield, and Bolingbrook.
How far in advance should we book?
Family sessions can be booked at any time, but if you want prime summer and fall days, 1-2 months is a good rule of thumb. Especially in West Michigan, once the weather gets nice, everyone wants photos, so it's best to reach out sooner than later and secure your date.
Do you help coordinate the family session
Before the session, yes. We'll work together to make a game plan for the day, and then once I arrive, I'll only provide minimal guidance. I recognize I'm a strange guy walking into your home. It's not my place to bark orders and poses, but rather guide moments and lean into listening and capturing things as they unfold.
What’s your photography style?
I like to describe my style as "a little better than real". How it looks when you close your eyes and imagine the moment. Documentary with a slightly editorial polish. I love the truly timeless, colorful, with a cinematic and artistic flair where I can.
